August discount:
Early August sees plenty of Puffins still around and the peak of our Storm Petrel ringing, with more migrant birds appearing as the month progresses, often including some early autumn rarities. August is often the best month for the chance of seeing dolphins and whales offshore, whilst the island’s flowers add extra interest.

Rufous-tailed Robin, Chestnut-eared Bunting, Siberian Rubythroat, Black-faced Bunting, Harlequin, Brown Shrike, Savannah Sparrow, Dusky Thrush, Rock Thrush, Steppe Grey Shrike, Rufous Turtle Dove, Blyth’s Pipit, Blackpoll Warbler and several Pine Buntings are just some of the headline birds from late October on Fair Isle, whilst there can be impressive falls of thrushes, finches, Woodcock and other common species to enjoy as well as good selection of scarcities. Why not visit at what might be the best time for you to find your own mega.

Bookings open on 1st March for Friends of Fair Isle (click here for an application form) and 1st April for everyone else. The Observatory opens from 11th April to 31st October .
